Kingston, August 14 - The 'MAGNET' ASHORE - The Mail steamer MAGNET, when
coming from Oswego to this port, went ashore this morning on the east side of the Main Ducks. There was a dense fog at the time, also a heavy rain. The extent of the damage is not known, but as there is no sea running she will probably be got off without much trouble. Messrs. Calving & Breck's tug WILLIAM, has gone to her assistance. The Ducks are about twenty five miles from here, on the line between this and Oswego.
LATER:- The steamer MAGNET arrived here at 9:30 P.M., having been "got off" by the tug WILLIAM. She is not damaged, and was going at easy speed when she went ashore.
