THE BARGE PARAGON SUNK - Yesterday afternoon a telegram was received from Dresden to this city, announcing that the old wood barge PARAGON had sunk, but gave no particulars. It is presumed that she went down somewhere in Bear Creek Up to within a short time the PARAGON was owned by Capt. Grummond, who sold her to her present owners, who desired to put her in the wood carrying trade between Detroit and Bear Creek. Her actual value as a vessel could be covered with a cypher, but for carrying wood, she was well enough.

DAMAGE DONE - Since the old barge PARAGON sunk in Bear Creek, some time ago, no effort has been made to raise her. By the action of the current she has drifted into the center of the channel, and on last Thursday the steambarge MANITOBA ran into the old hulk and broke her wheel and bent her shaft. She is now in drydock at Wallaceburg for repairs. It is time someone took action looking to removing the barge.

Craft that travel up Bear Creek should keep a sharp lookout for the remains of the old barge PARAGON, which sunk near Institution last summer. During the winter it has floated one and a half miles further down the Creek, and now lies with its stern in the sand and its bow in the channel. Some effort should be made to remove this old hulk. It may yet, unless it is removed, prove a snag that will sink some ill-fated craft, and then some one will put in a bill for damages.
