THE CITY OF MONTREAL - It is stated that the Canadian propeller CITY OF MONTREAL, ashore at Presque Isle, is in a very bad place. She lies in what is known as the Upper Reef, and is hard on the rocks. Yesterday the Detroit Fire and Marine Insurance Company endeavored to ascertain some particulars concerning her, as they have an insurance on her cargo, but were unsuccessful. She went on Monday morning and was bound for Collingwood, but was compelled to seek Presque Isle harbor for shelter, as a gale was blowing. On Monday noon, and again on Monday evening, the propeller St. JOSEPH attempted to render assistance, but could not. Upon arriving at Alpena, however, her officers telegraphed the wrecking tug LEVIATHAN, at Cheboygan.
