FROM THE SLIGO. - Milwaukee Sentinel, Tuesday: " The tug ANDREW J. SMITH, Capt. McGowan, reached this port from the Straits yesterday noon with the Canadian schooner SLIGO, which met with disaster on St. Helena Island on Wednesday night last. The vessel although leaking, requiring a steam pump to keep her free, is not thought to have suffered serious damage. She was placed in dry-dock at Wolf & Davidson's yard, and will be pumped up ready for examination this morning. Capt. McGowan says he found the SLIGO in three feet of water, and could not approach her within 1,400 feet, making it necessary to bend two hawsers together. The SMITH will return to Cheboygan today, where she will be stationed, with a complete wrecking outfit, until the close of Navigation."
