The schooner LAKE FOREST is ashore at Hammond's Bay, Lake Huron, and is full of water. She has a cargo of corn aboard. The tug A.J. SMITH has gone to her rescue.

Our telegraphic dispatches report the schooner LAKE FOREST, corn laden, ashore at Hammond's bay, Lake Huron, the schooner WOODS on Beaver Island, and the schooner D. R. OWEN, in entering Manistee Harbor, struck the north pier and sunk. She was loaded with brick and will probably be a total loss.

      The schooner LAKE FOREST, ashore and full of water in Hammond Bay, went out in the heavy wind and snow storm Wednesday night. She had a cargo of corn on board, which is insured for $9,742 in the Phoenix of Brooklyn. The LAKE FOREST is a 332 ton vessel, and was built in 1869 at Lake Sturgeon, by B. Spears. She rates A 2, and is valued at $12,600. The hull insurance is in the St. Paul Fire & Marine and Northwestern National of Milwaukee. She is owned by Peter Wienert of Chicago. The tug A.J. SMITH has gone to har assistance.

Cheboygan, Mich., Nov. 5 -- The schooner LAKE FOREST was towed into this harbor last night. Two pumps working can just free her. One third of her cargo of grain is lost. The schooner is in bad condition. She will probably tow to Manitowoc.

Manitowoc, Wis., Nov. 19 -- The underwriters and the owners of the schooner LAKE FOREST have failed to agree on the amount of the vessel's damage. The owner will allow her to sink, and resort to legal proceedings.
      The MONTPELIER and PERSIA have been abandoned after faithful efforts to effect their removal.
