Spartan (Steamboat), aground, 18 Sep 1898

Kingston, Sept. 19 - The stmr. SPARTAN, owned by the Richelieu & Ontario Navigation Co., ran on the rocks in the River St. Lawrence on the American side opposite Iroquois. The accident was due to the steering becoming disabled. The swift current swung the helpless boat on to the Point with such force that it ran out 3 feet.
