The schooner DAVIS STEWART, loght from Cleveland for Buffalo, went ashore during last night's gale, 13 miles east of Fairport. She is owned by J. W. Squires of Marine City, rated A 2 and is insured for $12,500.

      The tugs BELIZE and GLADIATOR returned yesterday from a visit to tue schooner DAVID STEWART, ashore 13 miles below Fairport. They evidently considered it not advisable to attempt to release her, as they cleared for the upper lakes.

      Schooner DAVID STEWART, caught in a heavy gale and anchored to prevent being driven ashore. She, however, dragged her anchors and stranded high and dry October 29, 1891 on Lake Erie. After repeated attempts to release her, the vessel was abandoned. No lives were lost. Estimated value of vessel $12,500.
