A schooner left here last week for Spanish River, having a number of lumbermen, together with some horses and stores for the winter. It is currently reported and credited that she is lost together with all on board.

We are sorry to learn that the schooner NEWASH of this port, belonging to Mr. Wm. Miller, was wrecked on the evening of the 9th. at Horse Shoe Island. A part of the cargo was saved but the greater portion was lost along with the vessel. We understand Mr. Miller was not insured.

NOTES:- Lucas Island was known as Horse-shoe Island - (Thompson Coast Pilot, 1869.) The above two extracts, taken from a previous card index, are of the same date, and could be correct, but needs re-checking.
