The I.W. NICHOLS, sunk in Pigeon Bay, was bound from Escanaba to Celveland with a cargo of iron ore. She had taken refuge in the Bay and the storm changed to another quarter the vessel dragged her anchor until she commenced pounding on the rocks, which soon opened her bottom, and she sunk. The crew were rescued from the rigging by the schr. DENMARK.
The schr. DENMARK arrived at Detroit Thursday, disabled, in tow of the tug URANUS. While at Pigeon Bay during the gale of Tuesday, she struck the bottom and was quite seriously injured.

The expedition to raise the schr. I.W. NICHOLS, sunk in Pigeon Bay, was unsuccessful. The Coast Wrecking Co. will undertake the job. The expedition from Detroit to rescue the schr. SAGINAW ashore near Black River, also returned unsuccessful.
