ANOTHER OLD-TIMER GONE.
Schooner SENATOR BLOOD Breaking Up On Goose Island Shoal.
Mackinaw City, Mich., Nov. 12. -- The schooner SENATOR BLOOD, bound for Detour, was unable to weather the easterly gale Tuesday night on Lake Huron and ran for shelter, near Mackinac Island she stranded on Goose Island Shoal at midnight. The seas went over her and quickly drove the crew into the rigging, and there they were forced to remain until morning, when they were rescued by the steamer ALVA. They succeeded in reaching St. Ignace this morning. The vessel is fast going to pieces and will be a total loss.
The schooner SENATOR BLOOD was a vessel of old Welland Canal type. George Goble built her at Oswego in 1863. She measured 220 tons net, rated B 1-1/2, and had an Inland Lloyds valuation of $2,000.
The lost vessel had on board 475 tons of coal, shipped by the Inter-Ocean Coal and Coke Company of Cleveland. The cargo was insured for $800 through Smith, Davis & Co., of Buffalo, but there was no insurance on the schooner. The BLOOD was owned by T.H. Cahoon of Cleveland. Capt. May, who sailed her, having a small interest.

The schooner SENATOR BLOOD ran ashore in a SE snowstorm Tuesday night on Goose Island with a cargo of coal. The vessel will be a total loss. The crew was rescued by the tug ELVA and brought to St. Ignace Wednesday evening.
