LAKE STEAMERS COLLIDE ON LAKE ERIE.
      The A.L. HOPKINS And The SYRACUSE Come Together Off Colchester Light.
      FORMER TOWED IN BY LATTER.
      Cleveland, June 9. - The steamer A.L. HOPKINS was struck and disabled by another ship in Lake Erie, three miles east of Colchester Lights, according to a wireless message received here. It is reported that the HOPKINS and the steamer SYRACUSE collided near Southeast Shoal and that the SYRACUSE took the HOPKINS in tow.
      The steamer CITY OF St. INGACE sighted the damaged boats near the mouth of the Detroit River and sent out the call for aid.

      INSPECTORS SUSPEND TWO MATES 30 DAYS.
      Toledo, O., Aug. 19. - Licenses of Frank H. Ernest of Buffalo and Hans Rolfson of Wyandotte, first mates respectively on the steamers SYRACUSE and A. L. HOPKINS, have been suspended for 30 days by Steamboat Inspectors Potter and Pleitz of this city, as a result of the collision of the freighters between the Southeast Shoal and the Middle Grounds in Lake Erie on June 9.
      The Inspectors charge in their report that both vessels were carelessly navigated. Although signals were exchanged by the vessels when two miles apart, each failed to turn out of its path, and the collision was the result.
