RAISE WOODEN BOAT.
Detroit, May 14. - Bids are being received by Col. Mason Patrick, United States Engineer, for removal of the wreck of the barge MELVIN S. BACON, which was sunk in collision with the steamer JOSEPH SELLWOOD, the morning of November 6 last year. The wreck is in about twenty five feet of water and lies against the west bank of the dredged channel near the foot of Mammajuda Island, Detroit River. The vessel is a wooden boat, built in 1874, is 182 feet long, 33 1/2 feet beam and 13 1/2 feet deep. The vessel and all equipment will become the property of the contractor. Bids are to be opened at noon May 18.
