The schooner F. W. GIFFORD, of Chicago, went ashore on a reef in Georgian Bay Sunday, and is reported a total wreck. The crew were saved. The GIFFORD had a carrying capacity of about 32,000 bushels of wheat, and, next to the FRANCIS BERRIMAN, ranked as the finest vessel in the Erie fleet. Her principal owner is Francis Berriman. She was valued at about $30,000, and was insured.

The schooner F. W. GIFFORD, ashore on Limestone Island, near Parry Sound, in Georgian Bay, will have to be raised with screws and launched. From this it appears that the vessel is not as badly damaged as at first reported.

The tug LEVIATHAN has arrived at Port Huron with the schooner F.W. GIFFORD, recently ashore at North Limestone Island, Georgian Bay. The LEVIATHAN worked at her twelve days. Her condition is not very bad; part of her keel is gone and her planking is more or less chafed. She will be repaired at Port Huron.

Relative to the schooner F.W. GIFFORD, just rescued from North Limestone Island and brought to that port, the Port Huron Times says. "The GIFFORD suffered less injury than would naturally be supposed, from the exposed condition she was in, and was extremely fortunate in being released. Her bottom is badly chafed up and a portion of her keel is gone, and it will require several thousand dollars to put her in shape.
