Disasters - The stm. CORTLANDT is reported ashore at Lakeport. The
schr. A. BRONSON is ashore 10 miles below Sheboygan light. The prop.
PACIFIC is hard aground on St. Louis flats, belwo the Dummy. The prop. AVON
has disappeared entirely. During the gale Thursday night (11/4) several
vessels parted their fastenings, among which were the tugs ECLIPSE and
PARKER and the brig SUNBURN. The schr. DACOTAH, which arrived up yesterday,
lost both anchors. Although no information has yet been received, we fear
that the gale will be attended by a large loss among the vessels, and may
unfortunately cost the lives of many seamen.
