The steamer BINGHAMPTON of the Union Line is having trouble aplenty lately. A week or so ago she sank the government steamer HANCOCK in Lake St. Clair, and while passing the steamer FRANCIS HINTON in the Detroit River, abreast Peche Island, yesterday morning, she broke her steeering gear and ran directly across the bow of the HINTON, which rammed her on the port quarter and both steamer were forced aground, side by side on the Island. The HINTON got off with her own power, and the BINGHAMPTON was released yesterday afternoon by the steamer
CHEMUNG and tugs. She has a large dent in one of her plates, and several frame are broken and her forward gangway smashed.
