BOLAND'S STEAMER BURNED.
Bay City, Mich., Oct. 11. - The steamer GARDEN CITY, which had just unloaded lumber from Lake Superior ports, and was en route to Saginaw to lay up, caught fire and was burned to the water's edge. She was built at Ogdensburg in 1873 and was owned by John J. Boland of Buffalo. The loss is estimated at $40,000.

The steamer GARDEN CITY caught fire just south of Bay City last evening. While enroute to Saginaw she burned to the water's edge. The origin of the fire is unknown. The boat had just unloaded a cargo of lumber from Lake Superior ports and was going to Saginaw to lay up. She was built at Ogdensburg, N.Y., in 1873 and was owned by John J. Boland of Buffalo. The crew fought the fire for some time but were forced to leave the boat. Loss is estimated at $40,000.
