EXPLOSION IN A STEAMBOAT.
A torch lamp exploded in the engine room of the steamer SYRACUSE, lying at the Rochester & Pittsburg docks in the Blackwell Canal, at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon. An alarm was sounded from Box 572. John McDermott, a machinist, was slightly scorched about the face. The fire was quickly extinguished, and the boat was not damaged.
