A private dispatch from Port Burwell received this morning says that the schr. GRACE SHERWOOD is ashore near that place, with decks under water. She is wheat laden and consigned to F.W. Fiske & Co., of this city. Capt. Dimick will probably go to her assistance with pumps , &c. this afternoon. Vessel insured.

The little schooner GRACE SHERWOOD is ashore near Port Burwell and is reported a total loss.

Capt. L. Dimick left for Port Burwell last evening on the tug H.S. SILL with pumps, hawser, etc. to render assistance to the schr. GRACE SHERWOOD, sunk at that place. The cpatain of the SHERWOOD stated yesterday that the vessel would prove a total wreck. No additional news was received from the vessel this morning.

      DISASTERS:- Oct. 8. -- The schooner GRACE SHERWOOD, grain laden, went ashore last night at Port Burwell; her decks are six feet under water. The crew were saved.

The schr. GRACE SHERWOOD, ashore at Port Burwell, is reported as having gone to pieces. Capt. Dimick, who went to her assistance, is on the way back, having abandoned the effort to save her.

The tug SILL returned yesterday afternoon from the wreck of the abandoned schr. GRACE SHERWOOD, ashore near Port Burwell, with a small portion of the outfit, all that could be saved. The vessel was valued at $4,000 and insured for $2,800.
