Samson (Tug), sunk by ice, 29 Nov 1880

Cleveland, Nov. 26 - A telegram from Pt. au Pelee states that the ice has cut a hole in the tug SAMPSON and she sunk Monday in McCormick's Bay. The tug was on her way down here. She will probably be abanodoned. She rates A2, and is valued at $15,000, with an insurance valued of about $10,000. Her owners are Capt. C.E. Benham and Mr. Luce of Ashtabula.

Cleveland, Nov. 26 - Capt. Benham telegraphs from Pt. au Pelee Island that the tug SAMSON had a hole made in her by the ice and sunk Monday in McCormick's Bay. The crew are all safe. Abandonment will probably follow.

Sandusky, April 13. -- The tug SAMSON, of Cleveland, which was released from Point au Pelee last Monday by the steamer AMERICAN EAGLE, is lying at Kelley's Island. She will be able to reach Cleveland without assistance. She will leave the Island just as soon as the lake is open east of Avon Point.
