- Full Text
The Canadian prop. GEORGIAN, bound from Thorold to Buffalo, went ashore last night above Pt. Abino. The captain was at Port Colborne this morning trying to get lighters to take her cargo off. As the weather was fair last night it is a mystery how she managed to get ashore. Her cargo is 15,000 bu. wheat, consigned to Mr. George Sandrock of Buffalo. The GEORGIAN is owned by the Norfolk Transportation Co., was built in 1864, and was rebuilt last year, receiving a rating of A2 1/2.

In our Second Edition yesterday we stated that the prop. GEORGIAN had arrived safely in port, in tow of the tug CROWELL, but omitted to mention the fact that she had 12 tons of nitro glycerine on board. When this became generally known, there was considerable anxiety felt for the inhabitants of the First Ward. However, the vessel made haste to leave this port early this morning, and no one on the dock knows ought her destination.
