The barge O.J. HALE, while sailing up lake Huron at 4 o'clock this morning, was struck by an unknown steambarge, 2 miles off Port Sanilac. The crew of the barge barely had time to get into the yawl boats when the barge sank. The steambarge did not stop to ascertain the amount of damage done. The crew landed at Port Sanilac and will come to Port Huron this evening. She was owned by William Johnson of this city.

The schooner HALE ran into the steamer NESHOTO while sailing up Lake Huron yesterday morning. The HALE went to the bottom in 10 fathoms of water. The crew escaped in a small boat.

Mate Peter Hale has made a statement about the sinking of the schooner HALE. He says the HALE did not mind her wheel. The steamer, he said, paid no attention to their shouts or the torch which was showed before and after the collision.

      The barge O.J. HALE ran into the steamship NESHOTO on Lake Huron, Thursday night. She knocked her own bow off and sank in ten fathoms of water. The crew escaped.
