Cream City (Bark), U4579, aground, 1 Apr 1864
- Full Text
The Stranded Vessels. -- A gang of men were at work yesterday taking the wheat out of the barks CREAM CITY amd PRIDE OF AMERICA and transferring it to small vessels, whose draft enabled them to run alongside the barks. In this way both of the vessels can be unloaded of most of their cargoes in the course of two or three days. A good share of the CREAM CITY's cargo will be saved dry. The wrecking tug LEVIATHAN lay close by with steam up, and as soon as the vessels are sufficiently lightened will pull them off. Nothing has yet been done towards getting off the MONSOON. --- Milwaukee Sentinel, 28th.

CREAM CITY OFF. -- The fine bark CREAM CITY, which went ashore in the recent gale at the entrance of Milwaukee harbor, was successfully pulled off by the steam tug LEVIATHAN on Sunday afternoon and taken into port. She leaked but little, her own pumps keeping her free without difficulty, and to all appearances was not seriously damaged. Fifteen thousand bushels of the cargo of wheat were on board when she was taken off.
