HECTOR, Barge 3 years old of 539 tons Reg. Port of Hail, Montreal. Bound from Kingston Ont., to Charlotte then to Kingston, was driven on shore by wind Oct.22, I898, near Nicholson's Island, Lake Ontario on Prince Edward coast shore. Only a partial loss. Damage $2,000.

NOTE :-- The HECTOR was one barge in tow of the JAMES A. WALKER which sunk off Nicholsons Island, HECTOR and the other barge, KILDONAN both went ashore. The HECTOR was formerly the schooner GLENORA, which was rebuilt and renamed HECTOR, after being sunk by collision in the Detroit River, 1892.

The wreckers have abandoned the schooner HECTOR ashore near Wellington. The schooner KILDONAN,which went on at the same time has been released and towed to Kingston. The wreckers were driven away from the HECTOR by bad weather. She is valued at $8,000 and is not insured.
