In attempting to make the straight channel at Sandusky last night, the steamer SACHEM struck bottom and her consort, the barge OWEN ran into her, smashing her quarter. This morning the SACHEM was released, and run into Sandusky.
Another three-masted steamer is reported a wreck off Pointe Aux Paux and a large steamer is on Gull Island, near Kelley's Island. Tugs have been sent out from Detroit and Toledo to assist the vessels in distress
