A Schooner Founders.
When off Vermililon Point, Lake Superior, yesterday the captain of the steamer J. W. MOORE saw a three-masted schooner in distress about elght miles ahead, near Whlteflsh Point. He made for her, but in 15 minutes from the time she was sighted she was lost to view, and he believes she foundered. A watch was put out to look for wreckage, but none was discovered. The steamer CITY OF DULUTH on her arrival at Sault Ste. Marie conlirmed the foundering of the schooner. It Is thought the lost vessel may have been the schooner NELSON BLOOM of Algonac, but there Is no authority for the report. Advices from Whitefish state that no wreckage has been seen. The heavy southeast wind prevailing would carry wreckage into the lake.

The schooner which foundered off Whitefish Point in Lake Superior is almost certainly identified as the PEREW. She was in tow of the N. K. FAIRBANK. She is owned in Cleveland, and is insured for $10,500 on a valuation of $12,000.

The schooner FRANK PEREW foundered off Whitefish Point last Tuesday. 6 were lost, one saved. She was in tow of the steamer FAIRBANKS bound with coal for Marquette. Tuesday morning about 4 o'clock another gale struck the ship off Vermillion Point. The crew stuck to her until 9 o'clock when they took to the yawl and for six hours struggled with the waves. They passed withing 2 miles of Whitefish Point and made for Isle Parisienne. When within 40 rods of the beach the yawl capsized and all were lost except one.
