She is loaded with corn, has six feet of water in her hold, and is on about two-thirds of her length, with seven feet of water forward and 12 aft. Capt. Patterson being interviewed, says, as she was in a heavy wind and snowstorm, he could see nothing and the boat iced up badly, about daylight Tuesday she struck the South Fisherman's Shoal.
The wind has shifted to the west and the weather cleared up. The vessel is in fairly good condition and can be gotten off unless a south gale should come to soon. The captain has telegraphed for a tug and two pumps. The NEWSBOY is owned by Tremble & Patterson of Chicago and valued at $10,000.
