Montreal, July 19. -- The barges DAKATO, CHEROKEE, SUEZ and BISMARK, belonging to the Kingston & Montreal Forwarding Company are ashore in Lake Ontario just below Oswego. They are coal laden for Montreal.

The United States authorities would not allow the tug CHIEFTAIN to rescue her tow, which was stranded near Oswego, and the work had to be done by Americans.

      Kingston, July 21. -- The United States authorities have given the tug CHIEFTAIN permission to rescue her barges, which are ashore near Oswego.

Kingston, July 22. -- The contract for releasing the coal barges which stranded near Oswego last Friday has been awarded to the South Shore Wrecking Company. All except the SCION are in good shape. About 400 tons have been lightered off the barge DAKOTA
