The tug SANFORD DAVIS ran into the steam barge LOTHAIR when about to tow her into Collingwood harbor. She struck the barge amidships, breaking the water-pipe and letting all the water out of her boiler into the hold. The barge was loaded with grain, which will be considerably damaged.

MARINE ACCIDENT- The. tug SANFORD DAVIS ran into the steam-barge LOTHAIR yesterday morning when about to tow her into Collingwood Harbour. She struck the barge amidships, breaking the water-pipe and letting all the. water out of the -boiler into the hold. The barge was loaded with grain, which will be considerably damaged.
And it is reported when about 12 miles out from Chicago the mate of the LOTHAIR, James Patterson, fell overboard and was drowned
