While making the bay at Hamlin, between Big and Point Sauble, the schooner TRANSIT of Sheboygan was run into by the schooner J. & A. STRONACH and badly damaged, on last Saturday, at 5 o'clock in the morning. The STRONACH struck the TRANSIT just forward of the cabin and cut her down to light water mark, her jibboom first tearing away the TRANSIT's main rigging and injuring the mainsail. After the collision the TRANSIT was put about on the other tack, so as to bring the break above water, and stood away for Manistee, which port she reached all right. According to the statement of the captain of the TRANSIT, the STRONACH was to blame for the accident. It is expected that the owner of the latter vessel will make good the damage. The TRANSIT will repair at Sheboygan.
