Mystic (Schooner), struck pier, 28 Oct 1878

Muskegon, Oct. 29. -- During last night and early this morning, when entering this harbor, the MINNIE MUELLER, MYSTIC, A. J. ROGERS, MINNIE SLAUSON, and scow SALMA struck the pier, the SALMA escaped without damage.
The MINNIE MUELLER lost her jibboom and headgear, and sustained slight injuries to her hull. She is now in dry dock to stop a leak. The A. J. ROGERS knocked the pier light off, and lost her jibboom. The MINNIE SLAUSON also struck the pier light frame work, and lost her jibboom. The MYRTLE lost her jibboom. The pier light is some distance from the end of the pier. Masters complain bitterly it is not moved to the end of the pier. Dark nights they are liable to strike the pier, even in good weather.
