Port Hope, May 14. -- A large steambarge stranded one mile south of here at 1:30 this morning in a gale. The life saving crew from Point Au Barques is coming to the assistance of the imperilled crew.
Later:-- The stranded steamer near here proves to be the LINDEN, bound from lake Superior to Buffalo with copper. The crew were all taken off in safety this forenoon by the life savers from Point Au barques station. The steamer seems to be in good condition although heavy seas are sweeping her decks.

Port Huron, May 17. -- The steamer LINDEN, lately ashore at Point Au Barques, proved on arrival here today to be in far worse condition than had been expected. Repairs will be made here.

The steambarge LINDEN, which was ashore at Port Hope, arrived here this morning. Her bottom is badly damaged. It cost $1,000 to make repairs so that she could get to Buffalo and it is estimated that to put the vessel in first-class shape again $5,000 more will be needed.
