THE HURLBURT WRECKED.
Saturday Night Blow Put the Steamer Ashore near Whitefish Point.
Marquette, Mich., September 8. -- The steamer LACKAWANNA of the Anchor Line has reported that the steamer CHAUNCEY HURLBURT is ashore 12 miles west of Whitefish Point. The tow of the HURLBURT, the schooner CLINT, was picked up by the LACKAWANNA in a waterlogged condition and with her rigging gone. The LACKAWANNA beached the CLINT. The HURLBURT and CLINT were caught in the storm of Saturday night, and the machinery of the former was disabled. It is reported that the HURLBURT will be a total loss. Both crews are safe.
