While heading for Hamilton in Lake Ontario yesterday the new steamer WACONDA, recently built in England for Mackay Bros., of Hamilton, sunk in 17 feet of water near Prescott. She had a cargo of fire brick. Wrecking tugs have been sent to try to raise her. The boat and cargo were insured.

Yesterday afternoon the propeller WACONDAH, which sank in the St. Lawrence river last week, arrived in port. She will be docked and repaired here. She was built in England and met with an accident while coming to the lakes.
