Description
Full Text

About 8 o'clock last night the schooner HORACE H. BADGER, from Buffalo to Port Clinton with a cargo of hard coal, was driven on the eastern arm of the breakwater at Cleveland. After pounding for half an hour she went to the bottom. The crew of seven men and Capt. Robert Thompson were rescued by the life-saving crew before the boat went to pieces. Two of the men were slightly injured. The boat had labored hard in a heavy northeast sea, and when about half a mile off Cleveland her anchors were dropped. They failed to hold and the captain tried to make the harbor, but missed by about 500 feet. The boat will be a total loss.
