The steamer FAYETTE BROWN was reported on the shore a quarter of a mile west of Lorain. Heavy seas were running and tugs could not get to her. She was bound to Lorain to load coal.

      Steam screw FAYETTE BROWN. U. S. No. 120682. Of 2,080 tons gross; 1,217 tons net. Built Wyandotte, Mich., 1887. Home port, Detroit, Mich. 306.3 x 40.0 x 18.0 Crew of 18. Of 1,000 indicated horsepower. Composite built.
