SCHOONERS COLLIDE.
A special telegram to the news tribune from Houghton last night announced that the schooner B. W. PARKER in tow of the steamer A. A. PARKER, both of them coal laden for Duluth, collided with the schooner PESHTIGO yesterday in the Portage Lake canals. Particular are meager as to how the accident occurred, but the damage to the PESHTIGO is reported to have been $8,000. The two PARKERS were due to arrive in Duluth last Sunday night and their coming has been awaited ever since. It is not known what occasioned their delay, unless it was heavy weather, of which there has been much this month on central and eastern lake Superior.
