McClellan (Tug), fire, 20 Aug 1875

Description
Full Text

On Monday the appraisers inspected the tug McCLELLAN, which was damaged by fire at Detroit last Saturday evening, and upon a thorough examination it was ascertained that the principle section of the tugs upper works were rendered useless for some time. She was also badly scorched forward. The boiler is somewhat damaged, but her machinery was in working order in the afternoon. The Firemen found it necessary to use the axe in extinguishing the
flames. The damage done will amount to several thousand dollars.
