- Full Text
The schooner OTTAWA, which unfortunately was run down on Saturday last by the steamer CRAIG, and sunk in Sarnia Bay, hailed from Belleville, Ont., was 215 tons, and 13 years old. Her supposed owner is Mr. D. Bogart, of the above port. --- Detroit, Sept. 6.

The schooner OTTAWA was examined by experts at Port Huron, and pronounced too far gone to do anything with. The Insurance Company will pay over $5,000 insurance on her, and she will be towed from the dry-dock to Sarnia Bay, where her old bones will have a rest. In all probability the OTTAWA will never carry another cargo unless times improve very much on the lakes. The OTTAWA hails from Buffalo, and is not a Canadian vessel, as has been erroneously stated.

The schooner OTTAWA, which was run down by the propeller CRAIG, some time since, and which was afterwards raised and towed to Sarnia Bay, where she was abandoned to the insurance Company, will be stripped of her standing rigging, anchors and chains, and all other portions of her outfit that was not blown from her in the squall on Lake Huron. She will then be towed into the rushes and will hereafter make a home for the frogs. The insurance company which held the risk on her hull has paid over to her owner the sum of $2,000 and gave him control of the vessel.
