Description
Full Text

A collision occurred a few days ago between the steamers FRED MERCUR and the LEWISTON in the Calumet River. The MERCUR was lying at the dock of the Iroquois Iron Company, and the LEWISTON, in passing, collided with the vessel. An inspection of the MERCUR's damage will be made Friday, when the steamer will return from Escanaba with ore. Several stanchions are reported broken, but the full extent of the damage has not yet been learned. It is said that the MERCUR will not be repaired until after the close of navigation.
