The old time schooner LA PETITE has joined the large number of companion vessels whose frames now rest at the bottom near the shores of Lake Michigan. On Saturday the vessel left Fox lake for Milwaukee and on Monday was struck by a heavy southeast gale. She drifted helplessly until 10 miles from shore near Sturgeon Bay Canal, when distress signals were sighted by the lifesavers and the crew of five men was rescued. The LA PETITE drifted ashore at Claybanks. She was owned by Theodore Planthner of Milwaukee.
