Wave Crest (Schooner), c83413, aground, 19 Jul 1900

A dispatch from Kingston, Ont., states that in a heavy squall near Alexandria Bay the schooner WAVE CREST was cut loose from her tug and blown ashore. She landed high and dry on the beach and her bowsprit was snapped off against a tree. The WAVE CREST was being towed up the river by the tug LEADER. When the squall came up the tug was unable to hold the schooner and the crew were compelled to cut the line. The schooner's men tried to hoist a jib, but failed to get the sail set before going ashore. The schooner was released.
