The ferry ESSEX, docked at the Woverine Dry Dock caught fire about 10 0'clock Thursday evening and the upper works were destroyed and the machinery damaged. She will be rebuilt.

The old ferry ESSEX still lies aground at Sarnia, near the Alpha Oil Works. Her machinery has been taken out and she is almost a total wreck.
