The barge MONTGOMERY lies in 21 feet of water in lake St. Clair as a result of a collision on Lake St. Clair Monday with the Whaleback 137.
      Port Huron Daily Times
      Tuesday, September 6, 1898
     

The barge MONTGOMERY, which was sunk in collision with a whaleback barge in tow of the steamer MCDOUGALL in Lake St. Clair, has been raised and towed to Detroit by the wrecker T.W. SNOOK.
