PROPELLER KIRBY WENT ON ROCKS.
Grounded in Dense Fog Early This Morning About a Mile Above Windmill Point.
When coming towards Buffalo early this morning the propeller S.R. KIRBY, with a cargo of iron ore, ran aground on the rocks about a mile above Windmill Point. The boat was running in a heavy fog, and when she struck was about two miles out of the regular course taken by boats. Tugs have been sent to the assistance of the KIRBY, and as there is no rough weather in sight, it is expected she will be released without great damage.

The propeller S. R. KIRBY, which went hard aground on the rocks near Windmill Point yesterday morning, was released about 7 o'clock this morning after about 500 tons of her cargo of iron ore had been lightered on the schooner WEST SIDE and scow BUFFALO. The tugs MASON and GEE were at the wreck and towed the boat into the harbor. The KIRBY is now being unloaded and will go into drydock for inspection of her bottom.
