Detroit, July 24. -- The Commissioner of Public Works is investigating the closing of the draw of Belle Isle bridge on the schooner CITY OF TOLEDO, which tore the spars out of the vessel and caused it to sink in a short time near Ownen Park. The schooner was in tow of the steamer JAMES FISK and was bound for the water works with coal. The accident was caused by the closing of the draw after the steamer had passed through.

Detroit, Oct. 5. -- Col. Davis, United States district engineer, will receive bids for removal of the old barge CITY OF TOLEDO, sunk in the river above Belle Isle bridge, on the American side. The boat has a cargo of coal, and sank after colliding with the bridge draw, which was swung before the barge had passed through. Bids will be opened Oct. 30.
