The new vessel, which is intend eri for service on the Pacific Coast and especially lor carrying oil to norts around Vancouver Island and the adjoining mainland, is 2M0'0" long between perpendiculars, "Si' 0" breadth moulded and IS' 0" depth moulded, with a draft of Hi' 8" in salt water, der designed speed is 11% knots loaded. She lias a long poop, short, bridge and forecastle, while the cargo space is divided into 10 oil tanks. Ample accommodation is provided officers and crew. The deck machinery and steering ge_ar are all electrically drivt'i. Derricks are provided on two masts for handling oil in drums and other cargo. The special feature of the ship is the propelling machinery, .tin's consisting of two 700 I!.H.P. diesel engines, turning 400 R.P.M, and working through reduction gearing and electric-magnetic slip couiplu?s lo a single shaft and propeller, the latter turning 145 R.P.M.
