Marie from Toledo, March 26, the "Captain Secord" and her sister vessel "Shaughnessy" set a new record for navigation opening on the Upper Lakes. Electrically-operated hoist (left) loads 9,500 tons aboard Secord at I Toledo in five hours. Inset is her master, Capt. J. A. Felker. Clam type buckets lift cargo at Algoma Central Steel Mills (right). Both vessels delivered 1,700 tons, a week's supply for the mill.
