The lifesaving crew at Cleveland are experimenting with a new fire extinguisher.. It consists merely of a powerful double-cylinder force pump on a large flat-bottomed boat. It draws its supply from the river, and is operated by the means of hand levers, after the fashion of the country fire engines of bygone days. It required the efforts of six stalwart men to make the thing work, but it threw a two-inch stream 100 feet, and was used successfully on the unfortunate lookout in the watch tower of the station.
