Orvis Westcott, of Sackets Harbor, has been appointed Keeper of the Lighthouse on Horse Island, near that place, vice Capt. Samuel McNitt, removed. Capt. McNitt has filled the post for 30 years. he was a soldier of the war of 1812, and at the battle of Sackets Harbor was among those who stood manfully at their post throughout the entire battle.
