The Eight Hour System Adopted in Oswego. - We learn that the Ship Carpenters and Caulkers Union will commence working on the eight hour system on Monday morning, with the approval of all the bosses except one. In consideration of the less number of hours constituting a working day, the wages will be 50 cents less per day for all old and new work. We believe that the Union is the first organization of workmen in the State to adopt this system, and test its merits, and having been once introduced it probably will be adopted by other classes of mechanics sooner or later. We trust it may prove satisfactory to both employers and employees.
